Overview
With tutoring, it is important to identify what your child needs. Do they need help catching up, support on grade level skills, or enrichment to ensure they are reaching their highest potential?
My specialties are reading comprehension and vocabulary skills, mathematics, and writing. I offer tutoring services to current 3rd through current 6th grade students. I do not specialize in phonics instruction. Phonics teachers are heroes!
For your tutoring sessions, I will create and/or provide all learning materials, down to the pencils and paper! I will also provide progress monitoring data to show growth results over time. No need to prepare; just come ready to learn!
I offer tutoring times by the hour, and I am flexible on times and days. I serve in the Birmingham, Alabama area. Local public libraries are ideal for tutoring spaces! All details can be worked out in our initial, free consultation.

Tutoring Services
Foundational Intervention
Have you noticed that your child is struggling consistently in one or more areas? It's okay! No need to panic! Be encouraged! This plan is for children who need to build foundational skills such as basic reading comprehension, the four basic math operations, and sentence building. If you are concerned with your child's gaps in learning, learning pace, or need to catch up, this is the plan for you!
Additionally, though the classroom is difficult, children who struggle intensely ALWAYS have massive amounts of skill and talent in other areas that need to be celebrated! I am here not only to tutor, but to also teach grit, highlight ALL types of intelligence, and give your child a well-rounded view of education. How you perform in school is not the measure of your worth...
...but we CAN make progress!
Grade Level Support
Would some support help your child keep up with the classroom rigor? This plan is for children who benefit from extra practice with grade level skills taught in the classroom. In this plan, you would keep me updated on skills learned in the classroom, and I would provide tutoring in those skills at the pace of the child's school learning. This also extends to test preparation and homework help. For example, if your school is studying long division this month, then so is Manna Tutoring!
Advanced Enrichment
Have you noticed that school is a breeze for your child? This plan is for children who need a challenge! As a former classroom teacher, I can testify to the fact that it is difficult to meet the needs of advanced learners in a classroom setting. In this plan, I can dig deeply into your child's grade level standards and multiply the rigor! Through either standards study or project-based learning, your child's brain can be pushed to its limit! I can also prepare your child for the next grade by pre-teaching skills to come. Being ahead of the game can keep your advanced child engaged and properly challenged.
Learning pods/ homeschooling
Are you involved in homeschooling or community learning? I can help! Whether you need coverage with a particular subject or just want a more private educational experience, I can teach small groups of students according to your curriculum or needs.
